Streamlining Multi-Location Retail Operations through Inventory Synchronisation & BOPIS Integration

Winter Timber Outdoors is a specialist retailer supplying timber, landscaping and outdoor building products to both trade professionals and retail customers. Operating multiple physical store locations alongside a growing BigCommerce website, the business needed accurate inventory visibility across every sales channel to deliver a reliable customer experience.

As the business expanded, keeping inventory aligned between AIM / Tritech and BigCommerce became increasingly challenging. Managing stock across multiple locations and product variants required ongoing manual oversight, increasing administration and creating the risk of stock discrepancies and overselling.

Winter Timber Outdoors also wanted to introduce Buy Online Pick Up In Store across all locations without disrupting its existing checkout experience. The solution needed to integrate seamlessly with ShipperHQ and existing custom checkout functionality while providing customers with accurate location based stock availability.

To address these challenges, our team implemented a standalone integration application that synchronises inventory from AIM / Tritech directly into BigCommerce. Inventory data, including variant level stock quantities, is transferred into an integration layer that updates our Multi Location Inventory (MIL) App, providing accurate, near real time stock visibility across physical store locations and the online storefront while reducing the need for manual stock adjustments.

We then installed and configured our Multi Location Inventory App within the BigCommerce store. The standard functionality met Winter Timber Outdoors’ operational requirements, requiring no major customisation or structural changes to the existing product catalogue. Location based inventory is now displayed correctly on product pages, giving customers visibility of stock availability across multiple store locations.

To enable Buy Online Pick Up In Store, we integrated ShipperHQ with the Multi Location Inventory App. Pickup locations were configured using ShipperHQ’s existing shipping options, allowing customers to select their preferred collection location during checkout. This approach ensured pickup selections mapped directly to the Multi Location Inventory App while maintaining compatibility with the client’s existing checkout scripts and shipping configuration.

The completed solution delivers accurate inventory synchronisation between AIM / Tritech and BigCommerce, supports variant level stock updates and multi location inventory visibility, and provides a seamless Buy Online Pick Up In Store workflow without disrupting the client’s existing checkout experience.

The impact was immediate. Winter Timber Outdoors now benefits from accurate, synchronised inventory across all store locations and their online storefront. Stock updates flow automatically from AIM / Tritech into BigCommerce, reducing manual workload and minimising the risk of overselling.

Customers can view location-specific availability and confidently select their preferred pickup location at checkout, while internal teams operate with reliable, near real-time stock data. The checkout experience remains stable, existing customisations remain intact, and the business now has a scalable foundation to support continued multi-location retail growth.
